Experiencing stress is not isolated to adulthood... kids experience it too! Stressful events can impact a child's health and well-being almost immediately. It can contribute to learning disabilities and can increase the risk of developing health problems as an adult.
Stress affects emotional regulation, memory and problem solving ability. Subsequently, the greater the stress, the greater effect on standardized test scores. When kids are less stressed they learn better!
Yoga Nidra or guided sleep-based meditation, combines mindfulness practices into a series of breath and body awareness techniques which take the practitioner to deeper brainwave states than the typical alpha state of mindfulness meditation.
Many kids have difficulty sitting still, making the laying down posture of the body much more accessible and comfortable.
